Success Stories

Copper
Rick and
I adopted Copper just over a month ago and already we can't imagine life
without her. She has not only met but exceeded our expectations. She is
such a good girl. She is our furry angel!! She is proof that rescue dogs
have so much to give. When we first met her, we were told that she would
do anything to please, and It couldn't be more true!! She just wants to
be at your side or in your lap.
When we
first got her she had a certain obsession with a Tiffany moose Lamp that
we have. She would climb up on the couch and stretch her body as far as
she could to try to get to the lamp that we had on a buffet table in our
living room. Funny part is the lamp is sort of the same coloring as her
fur. Also this moose's face is sort of shaped similarly to a bull terrier's.
It is metal with a glass back so we finally had to put it up because she
just wouldn't leave it alone. She even kissed it when we showed it to
her more closely. We think maybe she thought it was a puppy.
Another
cute story is one about a black Harley Davidson Pig toy that she has.
She will get to running around crazy and kicks it between her front paws
and back paws. Before long she forgets she's the one kicking it then runs
even faster because she thinks that it is trying to chase her!! She is
quite spunky when she wants to be and like a typical bull terrier, it
could be with absolutely no warning!!
She loves
to chew. Thankfully it's only on her nylabone and chew toys. She is a
Daddy's girl but will greet anyone with a wagging tail. She is also a
snuggle buddy and can often be found snoring on her back, with all paws
in the air while smiling. She is a big fan of the belly rub and becomes
quite vocal when you decide to stop. She loves to wrestle, play and run
wildly through out the house as if she were Sea Biscuit the race horse!!
She is really a great dog. She has manners (Thanks Marcy) and is quite
house broken. She sits by the door when she wants to go out to potty and
gets vocal if you take her back inside too soon.
She loves
to wear her checkerboard sweater on walks. She struts past other neighbor
dogs while barking as if to let them know she's here to stay. She loves
to go for car rides, even if it is to visit the Vet!! She has adjusted
quite nicely to our home and we are quite pleased that she seems relaxed
and happy. We weren't sure at first, for it seemed she was waiting for
Marcy to come back for her.
Thank you
for finding her and rescuing her and most of all for considering us for
her parents. We are completely elated and overwhelmed with joy. She has
a wonderful disposition and a polite and charming personality!! She may
be our first Bull Terrier but she won't be our last!! We always wanted
a Bull Terrier but now we that we have Copper, we are completely sold
on the breed!! Many Thanks to Marcy, Paula, Vanessa, and the Fort Dearborn
Bull Terrier Club. We're so glad we found you!!
Sincerely,
Rick, Jennifer, and Copper Malmgren

Mack

I am a 2-year-old
white male. I am social with other dogs but don't seem to like cats. I love
to have my belly rubbed, and I bark when I want more attention. I am very
gentle for a male Bull Terrier; I walk very nicely on a leash. I need some
training when I get in a crate; I like to get out as fast as I go in, but
once I am in I will just relax and be a good boy, until you open the door
and I make a run for it.

Duke

Duke,
who now goes by the name of Baz (short for Basil), is adjusting
well to his new family. He is a typical, strong-willed, adolescent male
Bull Terrier. He is very curious about the world around him and is increasing
his vocabulary daily with words such as off, leave-it and good boy, usually
in that order.
He is learning
sit, come, and heel, through lots of practice. He bonded with us almost
immediately and seems to be as happy with us as we are with him. He is
one big hunk of burning-bully-love and has been dubbed "the sexy beast"
by his Aunt Dianne.
Words of
advice to those of you who become smitten with the breed as we have: Learn
all you can about them by reading and talking to owners. Know the amount
of time and effort you are willing to commit to training this breed. The
more dominant personalities require constant supervision until they accept
you as the alpha. Patience, patience, patience. And most importantly,
know your own limitations. If you have difficulty being assertive and
speaking in a commanding tone, this breed is not for you.
This "success
story" has only just begun. We will be adding to it little by little,
each day for many years to come. .

Grits

Bud
(aka Grits)is a 9-month-old male who just wants attention. Bud is
a great dog in just over a week he's transformed from a little terrorizer
to a good house dog. He's learned not to jump up, how to sit, and he's working
on "stay." Bud is really well behaved on a leash and loves to take long
walks through the neighborhood. He just craves attention and is friendly
to everyone he meets. Bud is quite a ham and loves to put on a show crawling
around on his belly and then rolling over and kicking around on his back.
Bud has quickly made a place in our family and in our hearts.

Pancake

Pancake
is an 4-month-old female who has had a rough start at life. She was
turned in to a local shelter with a injury to her front leg. When we
got her the front leg was already amputated. We had our vets look at
her and decided to have new surgery and have her amputated leg surgery
corrected. She gets around GREAT, she is healthy, and sweet. She is
now called 'Tibbett' in her new home. Here are some comments
from her owner:
I saw
Pancake's (now Tibbett's) face on the website and fell in love with
her. She may only have 3 legs, but you would never know it. She goes
up and down the stairs, is getting used to the two cats, plays ball
and has discovered the couch. Tibbs is so sweet, affectionate, and
goes everywhere I go. She loves to play with my granddaughter
she went so far as to jump in her little pool to sit by her. She plays
with the other dogs in the neighborhood and has become a friend of
all the children.
I couldn't
imagine a day without her now. She is the best!!!! I'm so thankful
I was the one to adopt her.
Thank
you Bull Terrier rescue!!!! Donna
